1. To Be or Not To Be Mouchette

   Me, Mouchette, the online virtual character, I have an unusual status of existence. Regarding the art of my website (www.mouchette.org) I am the author and the creation at the same time, and yet through my remote internet life I remain invisible, anonymous, genderless, untouchable, neither alive or dead. Therefore participants of my interactive website confide in me in the most intimate way, as if were an imaginary being, living in their own head. Inside their own thoughts, no subject is taboo, fear, pain, life and death or even the temptation of suicide, and with me people feel free to talk about everything. With the reactions of the participants to my website I have composed animation films displaying many of the texts I received, spoken out by pixellated characters who tell their most private thoughts about their experience of surviving suicide, their own or someone else’s. My personality embraces all of my participant’s minds and together we form a collective consciousness pondering over questions of life and death in the digital era.

2. Oulipoems

   Oulipoems is a series of six interactive poetry Flash works, ranging from electronic poems, to games, to a tool for generating and writing poetry using the vocabulary of a variety of poets. The pieces are loosely based on the Oulipo movement in French literature, which focused on texts based on constraints (for instance, Perec's famous novel A Void, a lipogram in which the letter e does not appear) and also on mixtures of literature and mathematics.

3. Slaaplied (Lullaby)

   Dit gedicht is als het ware geboren uit een Sinfonia van Johann Sebastian Bach, hypnotisch gespeeld door Glenn Gould. De lezer wordt verplaatst naar een ziekenhuis of een verzorgingshuis, waarin een oud iemand de laatste uren van zijn leven is aangekomen. Hij bevindt zich in een staat tussen waken en slapen.  OPGEPAST: ZEER ONTROEREND! Slaaplied is verschenen in het Nederlands, Engels, Duits en Tsjechisch.

4. Gentleman Fight Night

   Een blik in het brein van de dichter. Abjecte insecten en andere onderkruipers betreden de ruwe, duistere bolster van de blanke pit. Daar staat de ring klaar voor de 'Gentleman Fight Night'. Laat het gevecht beginnen! Compleet met gruwelijke, in bloed gedrenkte finale.

5. De anderen hebben het gedaan (The others did it)

   Een serie webpagina’s met op iedere pagina een tekst/gedicht waarvan de inhoud en de presentatie verandert onder invloed van online beschikbare dynamische gegevens over gebeurtenissen die elders op de wereld plaatsvinden. De koppeling tussen een tekst en een website wordt bepaald door de thematische verwantschap tussen website en tekst. Die verwantschap is niet eenduidig, niet eendimensionaal, de tekst handelt niet direct over het onderwerp waar de aan die tekst gekoppelde site over gaat. De lezer van de tekst heeft zelf geen invloed op de inhoud en presentatie van die tekst. Die invloed wordt uitgeoefend door veranderingen in ded data van de site of door het online gedrag van bezoekers aan die website.

   Voor deze call hebben we één data poem gekozen: #1 : Stemmingswisselkoers (Mood Exchange Rate). Een tekst die veranderingen in de AEX-index volgt. Toont de beurs een stijgende lijn dan krijgt de tekst een optimistischer toon dan bij dalende koersen. In dat laatste geval wordt de tekst pessimistischer van toon. Onder invloed van de stemming worden bepaalde sleutelwoorden en zinnen vervangen door andere.

7. The Apostrophe Engine

   The Apostrophe Engine is a website operated by Bill Kennedy and Darren Wershler-Henry. It is the source of the poems in apostrophe, a book published by ECW Press in 2006.

   The Apostrophe Engine was used for the first time on April 18, 2001, and existed on a private Web server for the next five years. As of April 19, 2006, the Apostrophe Engine is available to the public at apostropheengine.ca.

   The home page of the Apostrophe Engine site presents the full text of a poem called “apostrophe,” written by Bill in 1993. In this digital version of the poem, each line is now a hyperlink.

   When a reader/writer clicks on a line, it is submitted to a search engine, which then returns a list of Web pages, as in any search. The Apostrophe Engine then spawns five virtual robots that work their way through the list, collecting phrases beginning with “you are” and ending in a period. The robots stop after collecting a set number of phrases or working through a limited number of pages, whichever happens first.

8. A Life Set for Two

   A Life Set for Two is an animated hypertext poem programmed in Visual Basic that explores the "dynamic processes of thought and memory." The story unfolds through the metaphor of two different menus––one belonging to the male narrator recounting a failed affair and other belonging to his lover, whom readers come to know only through the eyes of the narrator.

10. Extinction Elegies: a post-Fukushima interactive video-poem tht introduces mutations into the DNA of meaning.

    ARTIST STATEMENT: Nuclear reactors are built to last for about 30 years. After that, the spent fuel needs to be stored for thousands of years. Zero-fault is unknown in all human endeavours. Culture fissions. Extinction Elegies is about the fragile instability of received meaning at both biological and social levels.
