Xiana Sotelo
Xiana Sotelo is professor of English Mention subjects in Infant/Primary Education Degrees and of ESP in Journalism and Advertisement Degrees at Francisco de Vitoria University of Madrid (UFV). She also teaches new curricular changes in Spanish Bilingual education and the new methodology of Content Learning Integrated Learning (CLIL) in the UFV Master of secondary Education. Her main areas of research are: gender- women´s studies, digital humanities and interculturality (social justice) . After a pre-doctoral research period at UC Berkeley, she recieved her Ph. D in Literary and Cultural studies in English Spoken Countries from Complutense university of Madrid. In her dissertation, she traces the conflicting logic of difference and equality in the evolution of understanding of differences among women framed in an Anglo- European feminist critical consciousness in its journey towards intersectional theories of identity capable of naming cultural and social differences in an inclusive and non-hierarchical manner. She also holds a Master in Women´s Studies and a Master on the Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language both from Complutense university of Madrid. She has attended and presented at several congresses and published several articles, reviews and chapters of books on topics related to gender theory and research, the exploration of intersectionality as a theory/method and comparative literary/cultural studies on intermediality: "The Role of the Unconscious in Culture: A Review Article of its Role and Theoretical Perspectives by Green and Bainbridge, Radstone, Rustin and Yates” http://docs.lib.perdue.edu/clcweb ISSUE 11.14 (CLCWeb, 2009); "Intersectionality and Gender Perspective in the Virtual communities of Social Networks" (Univers Enciclopedic, 2009); "Embracing Intersectional Analysis: The Legacy of Anglo- European Gender theory to Social Sciences- Humanities" (In Tech. Croatia, 2012); As a member of the UFV Infants-Primary Education research group on Emotional Intelligence she has also written about the relationship between critical thinking and emotional intelligence : "La relación entre pensamiento crítico e inteligencia emocional en el contexto de la educación bilingüe: el estudio de caso de la asignatura "Metodología Práctica de la Lengua Inglesa" (UFV, 2014).
