  2. SeeVeniceandDie

  3. Grita

It is a digital poem that can only be read by screaming to the screen. Once the user screams the verses of the poem appear and when the user stops, the words are not longer seen. It is an interactive sound poem. It can be related to Loss of Grasp by Serge Bouchardon and Vincent Volckaert and Zang Tumb Tumb by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti. Aburto is a Peruvian poet and professor at the PUCP. Having worked in Communicative Arts has permitted him use different formats for his poetry: oral, written and digital. His Peruvian origin can be seen in the way his work relates to other 2000s writers from Peru: vindication of publication of poetry and interest for combining conceptual, textual and visual aspects. In this work, the use of the screen, the microphone and the appearing and disappearing letters permit a communicative situation between poet and reader, the reader becomes a creator of the poem because his participation is essential for watching the words. The effort of crying out loud that the work demands to the reader increases the effects of the messages of desperation and vindication

  6. Eduardo: a Multimedia Story by a Swiss Army Knife Journalist

One thing that cannot be denied is that whereas there have been countless online publications before the world wide web, it has been the late development of the web that transformed communication patterns and, particularly information textuality and the journalistic arena. Among profound and unceasing changes, one can stand out the online versions of traditional media outlets, but obviously the originally online stories, created to be experienced as multimedia journalistic pieces. It is within this field that Eduardo’s story belongs, in the piece “O que é isso de vida independente” [What is that of an independent life?] by the Portuguese multimedia journalist Vera Moutinho. In this paper, I will explore Eduardo’s story, which elects the visual and sound plasticity as drivers of the reading experience, to examine how significance is built across multiple media and unfolds undertones throughout each moment.

  7. Come Together Now

Come Together Now uses recorded sound and technology as an invitation rather than a mediation of entertainment. The aim of this work is to bring people together with a pre-recorded sound composition, remove the recorded sounds as they sit down, leaving them with their own space to create a musical experience.

As a participant approaches the space they can hear a track being played that is composed of the instruments that they see in the installation. Pressure sensors placed between tree stump seats and cushions detect when a person has sat in front of an instrument. A computer program will then turn the volume down on the track being played, corresponding to the instrument that has been taken up by the participant, and a vocal track is proportionally turned up into the mix. As all seats are taken by the participants all pre-recorded sound of the instruments will have been replaced with the live performances and will now be accompanied by a pre-recorded vocal chant.

  10. Salon Jan 11, 2022: Figurski on the Radio!

Radio made the hypertext star! and Richard Holeton and John Barber will introduce the radio adaptation of the Famous Figurski at Findhorn on Acid!

Join us as we merge technologies and adapt to radio and sound in a favorite work.

    About this work:
What began as a pioneering work of electronic literature is now a radio theatre performance. But it took more than twenty years for this to happen.

Richard Holeton first published Figurski at Findhorn on Acid in 2001 using Storyspace software. This novel length, comedic hypertext featured thousands of links, three main characters, three significant locations, one (perhaps two) mechanical pigs, and yes, THAT acid. Wild acclaim followed initial publication.
