Artur Matuck tem atuado, no Brasil, Estados Unidos, Canadá e Europa, como professor, pesquisador, escritor, artista plástico, diretor de vídeo, performer, produtor de eventos de telearte e mais recentemente como filósofo da comunicação contemporânea e organizador de simpósios internacionais. Desde 1977, tem apresentado conferências, oficinas, e projetos, nacional e internacionalmente, em tópicos diversos tais como Artes Mediáticas, Arte e Tecnologia, Telecomunicações e Artes, Televisão Interativa, Arte Performance, História da Arte, Arte Combinatória, Direitos Autorais, e Criação Textual Computacional. Em 1984, no Brasil, inicia carreira universitária, assumindo a disciplina de Multimídia e Intermídia no Departamento de Artes Plásticas na Escola de Comunicações e Artes da USP. Atualmente ministra disciplinas de Comunicação Digital no Departamento de Relações Públicas, Propaganda e Turismo também da ECA-USP. Atua ainda como professor-orientador nos programas de pós-graduação em Ciências da Comunicação e em Estética e História da Arte ambos da USP. Sua produção artística tem sido exibida nas Bienais de São Paulo em 1983, 1987, 1989, 1991 e 2002. Em 1990, recebeu o prêmio na categoria video-arte da Associação Paulista dos Críticos de Arte. Em 1991, foi artista visitante no "STUDIO for Creative Inquiry" na Carnegie Mellon University, em Pittsburgh, onde produziu Reflux, um projeto mundial de telecomunicação e arte, considerado pioneiro da produção estética colaborativa em redes. Artur Matuck é o criador e propositor de Semion - um Sinal Internacional para Informação Liberada, uma proposta alternativa às instituições da propriedade intelectual e que representa uma contribuição aos debates acerca da informação na era eletrônica. Desde 1995, desenvolve pesquisas sobre as formas híbridas de criação textual co-autorada entre agentes humanos e sistemas computacionais, através do Projeto Literaterra/Landscript. Desde 2002 tem organizado o Simpósio Internacional de Artemídia e Cultura Digital, intitulado Acta Media, na Universidade de São Paulo. De Julho de 2006 a Junho de 2007, realizou estagio de pós-doutorado no Laboratório NT2 (Novas Tecnologias, Novos Textos) da Universidade do Quebec em Montreal, Canadá. Sua produção teórica tem sido publicada nos EUA através do periódico Leonardo, publicação oficial da Sociedade Internacional de Arte, Ciência e Tecnologia. Membro do Conselho do Programa Interunidades em Estéticas e História da Arte da Universidade de São Paulo. (Texto informado pelo autor) Artur Matuck has worked in Brazil, the US, Canada, and Europe as a professor, researcher, writer, artist, film director, performer, tele-art event producer, and more recently as a philosopher in contemporary communications and organizer of international symposiums. Since 1977 he has presented conferences, workshops, and projects both nationally and internationally on various topics such as media art, art and technology, interactive television, performance art, art history, combinatory art, copyright, and computer text creations. In 1984 in Brazil, he began his university career by managing the course on Multimedia and Intermedia at the Department of Plastic Arts from the School of Communications and the Arts at USP. Currently he is professor of the Digital Communications subjects in the Department of Public Relations, Advertising, and Tourism, also at ECA-USP. He also works as an advisor in the post-graduate programs in Communication Sciences and in Aesthetics and Art History, both at USP. His artistic works have been exhibited at the São Paulo Biennials in 1983, 1987, 1989, 1991, and 2002. In 1990, he received an award in the Video-Art category from the São Paulo Association of Art Critics. In 1991, he was guest artist at the Studio for Creative Inquiry at Carnegie Mellon University, in Pittsburgh, where he produced Reflux, a global telecommunications and art project considered pioneering in collaborative and networked aesthetic productions. Artur Matuck is creator and originator of Semion (Internal Symbol for Open Information), an alternative proposal to intellectual property institutions and which represents a contribution to the debates on information in the electronic era. Since 1995, he has researched hybrid forms of textual creations co-authored between human and computer agents through the Literature/Landscape Project. Since 2002 he has organized the International Digital Culture and Art-Media Symposium at the University of São Paulo, known as Acta Media. From July of 2006 to June of 2007, he was a post-doctoral intern at Laboratório NT2 (New Technologies, New Texts) at the University of Quebec in Montreal, Canada. His theoretical work has been published in the US in the periodical Leonardo, an official publication of the International Society of Art, Science, and Technology.
