About Shelley Jackson
Shelley Jackson is the author of the virtually-canonized hypertext novel Patchwork Girl published by Eastgate. Jackson was recently selected as a Village Voice Writer on the Verge. Jackson describes herself as the lovechild of Samuel Beckett and Pippi Longstocking. On her website, ineradicablestain she writes: "Shelley Jackson was extracted from the bum leg of a water buffalo in 1963 in the Philippines and grew up complaining in Berkeley, California. Bravely overcoming a chronic pain in her phantom limb, she extracted an AB in art from Stanford and an MFA in creative writing from Brown. She has spent most of her life in used bookstores, smearing unidentified substances on the spines, and is duly obsessed with books: paper, glue, and ink.

Cybertext Yearbook Database
The Cybertext Yearbook Series, started in 2000, quickly earned its reputation as one of "the best cutting-edge reads for the literary digerati" (American Book Review). In 2007 it will finally make the obvious non-trivial move and transform itself into the Cybertext Database, a FREE online publication. The Emergence of Electronic Literature
Electronic literature has emerged as a field of creative practice and academic study over the course of the past several decades. Since the 1990s, the University of Bergen has been one of the central institutional players in the emergence of this field of practice along with peer institutions such as MIT, Brown University, and UCLA. This exhibition, including computers and computer programs, vintage works of electronic literature in original packaging, books, posters and ephemera of events, video documentaries, the ELMCIP Electronic Literature Knowledge Base and the ELMCIP Anthology of European Electronic Literature, will serve both to familiarize library patrons with the emergence of this field and with the special role that the University of Bergen has played in its development.
