4. De la confirmation à la subversion: Les figures d’animation face aux conventions du discours numérique

   Dans le domaine du discours numérique, le terme « figure » s’est rapidement imposé pour circonscrire certains phénomènes de sens émergeant du couplage entre le mouvement, la manipulation, et le texte ou l’image. Un transfert direct des figures linguistiques dans le domaine du discours numérique semble néanmoins problématique à cause de la nature pluricode de ces couplages. Dans cet article, nous nous concentrons sur le couplage texte / image – mouvement. Notre but est de compléter les approches existantes par une analyse sémio-rhétorique identifiant avec précision les procédés par lesquels les « figures d’animation » soulignent, confirment ou subvertissent les conventions du discours numérique.

5. Digital Literature—A Question of Style

   For some time, critics tried to circumscribe the “novelty” of digital literature in rather generalist terms, either taking into account its relation to literary avant-gardes or focalizing on its technical features; these theoretical approaches were often blind to contents. Now that digital literature seems more and more aesthetically convincing, the time has come to define its stylistic features with more precision. In order to circumscribe the poetics of interaction, some authors tested the validity of the classical figures of style. It is, however, probably dangerous to use classical rhetorical terms intended to characterize textual phenomena, whereas the signs of digital text almost constantly refer to different semiotic systems (including the visual one). In the following pages of this article, I will sometimes continue to borrow from conventional taxonomies to describe the stylistic devices of digital literature, and I will try in other cases to invent a new terminology in order to avoid foolhardy analogies.

6. Acoustic and Visual Imagination in Poetry from the Neo_Avantgarde to New Media Poetry in Yugoslav and Post-Yugoslav Poetry

   At the beginning of my text I will consider contemporary interpretations of the visual and acoustic aspects of poetry. The main references will be texts written by American poets, performers, artists, theoreticinas such as Charles Bernstein, Michael Davidson, and Johanna Drucker. Shortly, I will point to the history of these phenomena in the West. Special attention will be given to the concepts of plurivocality and plurality of visual projections in different kinds of experimental poetry.

   In applying these concepts in considering Yugoslav Avant-Gardists:  Franci Zagoričnik and OHO group (Slovenia), Vlado Martek (Croatian) and Katalin Ladik and Awin authors (Serbia) I will first discuss the status of experimental poetry in so called small cultures. Then I will show the range of experimentation in the work of the poets I have mentioned, who worked within the Yugoslav socialism and post-Yougoslav postsocialism.

   In the talk Mencía describes how her art practice moved from using electronic devices to create physical inscriptions, such as in the installation "I Love You" which was a sort of fax machine that made images in response to the interactor moving a toy car over a stone with the works "I Love You" engraved in it, and collaborative performance works based on collective activities and gestures, to a practice in digital media based on communication and miscommunication in human and computer language.

10. electropoetics

    Initiated on March 15, 1997, ebr's electropoetics "thread" is devoted to discussions and debates about digital poetics and writing in electronic environments. Most, but not all, of the articles published in ebr about electronic literature and digital literary art appear in this thread. The first editor of electropoetics was Joel Felix, who edited a special issue by that title. David Ciccoricco (2002-2005) and Lori Emerson later served as electropoetics thread editors.
