   I Dream of Canute (& The Sea is Rising) stretches our perception of time by creating a literary artwork that is formally linked to our planets rising sea levels. This self-destructive poem will play out over the next 100 years, a time period in which it is highly likely that we will experience at least one metre of sea level rise (see Some Notes on Sea Level Rise at: http://stevieronnie.com/idreamofcanute/aboutcanute.html ). As we enter each year, one line of the poem will disappear. Each line therefore represents one centimetre of sea level rise. The poem has been composed in such a way that it can still hang together as a literary artefact, albeit a permanently shifting one, as it shrinks over time.

2. Punchlines

   Punchlines is a lyric long poem that probes the poetic tensions in the everyday languages of computer-user collaboration. Within the narrative structure of a Canadian couple’s drive down the West Coast of the United States, the poems set this exploration between the call (poem title) and response (the poem itself) of jokes and punchlines, echoing the input-output (call/response) of modern computer-user cooperation, with the ultimate goal of infusing code with poetry and poetry with code. The first section is the initial trip down the coast while the second section houses poems in response to the return trip. There is little stopping in this long poem.

4. Whispering Galleries

   Whispering Galleries by Amaranth Borsuk and Brad Bouse is digital erasure poetry first exhibited at the New Haven Free Public Library in 2014. As readers gesture over the computer, transcriptions from a New Haven shopkeeper’s 1858 diary dissolve as so much digital dust, leaving behind a shimmering poem. Through a webcam, readers’ shadows emerge from behind the words, creating a symbolic link between viewers and the work. Like the whispering gallery architecture referenced by the title, the project transmits “whispers” from the past across time. Borsuk, an artist and writer, composed the poetry, while Bouse, a creative programmer, coded the JavaScript that yields the digital effects.

   SELFIEPOETRY is a series of poems looking at some ways in which the inscription of the self (in today’s paradigmatic digital manifestation, i.e.: the selfie) can be reinterpreted against a very vague and unorthodox selection of artistic and literary trends. As of today, there are 8 poems, each constituting an intervention in a different movement. They also touch upon some very personal matters, since the author is intrigued by the many ways in which people today share their personal lives online.

7. Style Guide for Erasing Human Dignity

   Style Guide for Erasing Human Dignity responds to the current political climate in America through a facetious writing guide mixed with poetry. The images within it trigger more text when viewed through an augmented reality app.

   This “style guide” was inspired by a recent news article about the suggestion to modify language when applying for White House funding. This prospect is incredibly dangerous; what protections disappear when language is changed or erased? Spanish-language and LGBT resources were removed from WhiteHouse.gov, for example. Style Guide for Erasing Human Dignity comments on contemporary political issues (the current attack on immigration, environmental protections and journalism) with the proposal of new linguistic strategies. The guide suggests conflating words (Could ‘weather’ be the same as ‘climate’? Could ‘credible’ be replaced with ‘retweeted’?) and provides alternative definitions (Accountability: An account, and the ability to run it effectively. Also see: Social media).

   This satirical writing guide is mixed with poetry and images of burning books.
