    This kinetic poem is takes the ancient rhetorical and poetic device of the dialogue to investigate the virtual, conceptual, and perceptual spaces of programmable media. Inspired by theoretical writings by John Cayley and Jean-François Lyotard, this poem explores binaries between past and present, old and new, letter and word, simple and complex writing surfaces, and the right and left eye— each of which has a distinct voice and perspective on the topic.     tExtra.Touren is a collection of experimental literary works gassners oliver. Besides the known projects for the internet that use textual and visual elements, the hyper-literary edition including recent mail and copy-art projects as well as audio recordings of lectures. tExtra.Touren share consists of the "paper-copy mail.art ---. txt ---. --- sound. html". there go the early work seamlessly into the network since 1983 literary work on since 1996. all work gassners, whether on paper, as a copy, fax, mail or digital network literature, provide a kind of media-hacking: using simple means, the medium broken, to bring its procedures have revealed. gassner initiated a new poetics of writing, under network conditions, which can break the language use. Dabei kommt er hinter die Machenschaften eines Weltkonzerns, der zuhause Politiker schmiert, Mitwisser unschädlich macht und im Ausland unter dem Schutzschild von Diktaturen menschenverachtende humangenetische Experimente betreiben lässt. Ein mysteriöser Todesfall und ein todgeglaubter Störenfried geben Rätsel auf, und der Leser wird mehr und mehr in ein bedrohliches Spiel verwickelt. Ob er da heil rauskommt, hängt nicht zuletzt von seinem kriminalistischen Gespür ab...

    “Internal Damage Data” uses the structure of a multiple choice questionnaire for self assessment of internal damage to shape the first part of the poem. For each question, Mez uses option C (maybe, unsure, other…) to develop her poem, seeking to transcend the traditional yes/no binaries in such questionnaires. In the part depicted above, she uses algorithms to structure her poem: using the logic and language of programming to guide the reader’s experience of the poem.   10. Chasing Pandora

    This hypertext poem included in the 2011 New Media Writing Prize Shortlist (in the Student category) tells the story of a stalker and his victim. The speaker is the stalker who opens a Facebook account under the pseudonym “David Mills” (after typing and deleting “Micheal” from the name field) to be better able to stalk the subject of his obsession, a young Canadian woman called Pandora Oaklear. The stalker is not much of a poet, writing in more or less iambic tetrameter and dimeter, rhyming words like “distance” with “persistence,” and using a rhyme scheme so irregular that it is surely a reflection of his perturbed thought process. He is smart enough to open accounts under multiple pseudonyms and in different cloud-based content hosting services, such as Webnode, Flickr (a Yahoo! service), Facebook, and YouTube (a Google service). Only this disturbing bit of center-justified verse and the focus on the victim weave all these photos, accounts, and videos together, including a newspaper clipping that chillingly gestures towards a blurred boundary between fiction and reality.
