  3. Queerskins

    Partly based on Szilak's experiences as an HIV physician, Queerskins tells the story of Sebastian, a young gay physician from a rural Missouri Catholic family who dies at the beginning of the epidemic. Queerskins harnesses the odd intimacies afforded by the Internet (collaborations formed via Craig's List and access to strangers' personal images and videos from the Creative Commons) to explore the human urge for transcendence via love, religious faith, sexual ecstasy, storytelling, and technology itself. The interface consists of layers of sound (two hours of audio monologues from five characters), diaristic text (40,000 words), and more than a hundred banal, quotidian photos curated from Flickr Creative Commons and videos (downloaded from YouTube and the Internet Archive) as well as ephemeral Flip videos of life in L.A. (commissioned from Iris Prize nominated filmmaker Jarrah Gurrie) that users can navigate at random or experience as a series of multimedia collages.

  7. Reimbox

    Die Reimbox ist ein Gedichtgenerator, der algorhithmisch Gedichte generieren und vorlesen kann. Die generierten Gedichte sind metrisch geordnet und gereimt. Die Reimbox wurde nicht darauf hin trainiert, sinnvolle Texte zu erstellen, vielmehr soll gezeigt werden, wie kreativ eine Maschine mit Sprache umgehen kann. Die Reimbox verführt den Zuhörer zurück in die Zeit des Dadaismus, in der versucht wurde, die künstlich auferlegten Grenzen der Sprache zu sprengen. Die Reimbox soll zudem verdeutlichen, wie sehr sich unsere Vorstellungen von Begriffen wir „Autor“, „Werk“ und „Kreativität“ durch die Anwendung und Verbreitung von algorhithmischer Literatur einem Paradigmenwechsel unterziehen werden müssen.

  8. C()n Du It

    C()n Du It is a volume of poetic audio-videoclips, presenting the most important phenomena of visual culture and asking questions about a man’s place in the online sphere and about identity in the era of avatars. Intense, expressive and ironic pictures, show in an epigrammatic form our daily internet ‘rituals’, like clicking, posting, chatting. References to animation, film, advertisement or video games create dynamic, expansive clips. No ‘dry bones’, using a metaphor from ‘logical poem’, but a truly ‘fleshy’ poetry, precise and firm. The style of the whole volume may be described as a ‘post-Atari’, with green color reminding of system commands and simple font expressing nostalgia for the uncomplicated, 8-bit world. The spectator is forced to simultaneously cope with the picture and sound and experiences a true stereophonic reality. In so uncertain 20th century a man is a constantly reborn avatar, a pixel or just a printed circuit on the motherboard of society.

  9. Hadean Lands

    An interactive fiction for the iOS developed by Andrew Plotkin, funded by a Kickstarter campaign, through which Plotkin raised over $31,000 to develop the project.

    Description from the Kickstarter page:

    Hadean Lands: An Interactive Alchemical Interplanetary Thriller

    The Unanswerable Retort is a starship, and you're the second assistant alchemist. Sound like an easy job? It was -- up until one second ago, when the Retort crashed out of hyperspace, into some God-forsaken airless landscape. Or maybe it crashed only halfway out of hyperspace. Time seems to be fractured, the crew is missing, and you've been trying to fix the ship for... well, that "one second" has been going on for weeks.

    ...Alchemist?

    You didn't think a starship ran on coal, did you? Too bad the ritual circle is cracked, and most of the elemental supply cabinet is stuck two seconds in the future. You'll need to figure out how this disaster happened -- eventually. It's not your first problem.
