1. Perdersi

   “Loss of Grasp” recreates the loss of self-control. What happens when one has the impression of losing control in life, of losing control of his/her own life? Six scenes tell the story of a man that is losing himself. “Loss of Grasp” plays with the self-control and the loss of self-control and invites the reader to experiment with these feelings in an interactive work.

2. Series 1: the alphabetic

   This work is part of a series of interactive generative poems, inspired by Hansjorg Mayer’s alphabetenquadratbuch poem (alphabetsquarebook). It is an exploration of generative alphabets creating concrete forms with the input from the participants. The work doesn’t exist until the viewer interacts with it. By incorporating this aspect of essential interactivity into the work I emphasize the need for the engagement and participation of the reader/viewer in the production and existence of the work. When the viewer approaches the poems, he/she is faced with an empty screen and it is not until some sound is produced that the viewable space is filled in time with the help of sound and silence. All poems create a square formed by the letters of different alphabets, the three communication systems converge: image, writing and code activated by sound. The shifting from the visual and the linguistic is itself the poem; to create that in-between state of verbal-visual energy.

3. Etang

   Etang est le résultat d'une expérience d'écriture avec une ami. Tout comme mon père, le sien est mort d'une maladie grave. Pendant plusieurs semaines, nous nous sommes rencontrées pour parler de notre expérience. A l’aide de courts textes organisés autour de plusieurs thèmes, nous avons essayé d'imaginer l'expérience de l’autre. Quelques années après cette expérience d'écriture, j'ai eu l'occasion de prendre des photos dans une maison incendiée. Pour des raisons d'assurance, les anciens habitants avaient dû quitter tous leurs biens dans les pièces brûlées. J'ai décidé de repeupler ces pièces avec la voix du père de mon ami, ainsi qu'avec la voix de sa fille.

4. Generative Poems

   This work is part of an ongoing series of interactive, experimental and generative poetic texts using Processing to generate visual compositions which fill the viewable space in time, with a growing pattern triggered by sound and silence.These particular poems developed with Szekely were inspired by Hansjorg Mayer’s alphabetenquadratbuch poem (alphabetsquarebook). In all the experiments, three communication systems are coming together: image, writing and code.

   It is my aim to stretch the possibilities of programming to produce generative texts activated by sound and rooted in the tradition of concrete poetry, its formal representation, production processes and progression with technological advances. As a research project, the work will have a valuable input in provoking discourses and bringing knowledge and understanding into the different explored disciplines.

5. Reversed Mirror

   A 7-minute, single-channel digital videopoem (edition of 5). This work takes language into a domain of trance where the subtle dissolution and reconfiguration of verbal particles is charged with a feeling that is at once calm and tense. (source: author)
