    A HyperCard stack that generates poetry (from an existing list of terms) based on the computer's internal time.  In addition to a static text around the edges of the clock (which can cycle with clicking), a dynamically-generated text appears in the center.

    'Trujillo' spreekt voor zich en is pas geslaagd wanneer het spontaan tot meerdere lezingen/ herhaaldelijk bekijken aanzet! Het stelt tevens de romantische kunstenaarsopvatting aan de orde (met de roos als leidmotief): een beetje kunstenaar moet groots kunnen afzien. Anders gezegd een beetje schrikbewind legt de kunst geen windeieren: doe er vooral uw maal mee!

    Der Metricalizer analysiert jedes beliebige deutsche Gedicht in seiner metrischen Struktur. Der Metricalizer kann hierbei die Stellen hervorheben, die zu einem Reibungsverhältnis zwischen Metrum und Normalbetonung führen. Dieses Verhältnis nennen wir „metrische Komplexität‟. Metricalizer kann in der neusten Version (Dezember 2015) jede Analyse typologisch bewerten und mit Statistiken anreichern.

    Ruth is an artist and co-founder and co-director of Furtherfield an online community for art, technology and social change and a gallery (formerly HTTP) in the heart of Finsbury Park, North London. She works with artists, curators, musicians, programmers, writers, activists and thinkers from around the world. She is currently developing the artistic programme and organisational infrastructure with a focus on Media Art Ecologies, aspiring to engender shared visions and infrastructures for other possible worlds.

    Ruth has worked in Higher Education for over 15 years. She is Head of School at Writtle School of Design (WSD) developing Art and Design in land-based contexts. She is working with other disciplines within the college and with local, national and international partners. WSD is in the top four Art and Design institutions nationally- Guardian University Guide 2012.

  7. Small Uncomfortable Reading Poems

    Small uncomfortable reading poems is a set of 4 poems based on 2 ideas; each poem is “a tool” and the poem creates an incompatibility between ergodic and noematic reading: the reader must act in order to read “now” at present time, but her action impeded reading what happens just after.

    The 4 poems are:
    brush to dust/blow the fiction
    It consists in a generative fiction the reader cannot read because the text is recovered by a picture of dust. She must move her mouse to dust the text, but doing this, she an only read few words of the fiction at each time because dust reappears. She must also circulate into the text via scroll bar without seeing the text. 

    plane poem
    It consists in a kinetic poem recovered by a flat tint. The reader must plane the tint with her mouse in order to read. Problem: the flat tint re-forms even and she must plane more and more, continuously, but she can only read fragments of the poem.

  8. B A C K L I T

    B A C K L I T seeks to invite the recombination of word and image from translocal communities of conversants on diverse e-list servers, Facebook, and Twitter. Members of list­‐servers are asked to send both an image and a text of no more than 140 characters to performer, and to do so in response to thought processes/actions given rise to by the phrase "Remediating the Social". The performer will recombine those elements. The piece itself is simple, complexity will be generated by the volume of submissions.

  9. The Garden Library Database Visualization Project

    The Garden Library database is an open‐air library located in a public park in the center of Tel Aviv. Established to serve the area’s refugee and migrant worker community, it aims to answer a concrete need as well as to manifest a socio‐political stance. The library has no security guard who checks and asks questions, no walls and no door. 

    ARTEAM, the artists’ collective that initiated and designed the library, sought to break away from traditional classification categories and to realize an indexing system that would playfully manifest the values of an open society. Inspired by the freedom inherent in digital random‐access data retrieval the books are not catalogued according to genre or author name, but dynamically according to reader input, i.e. to the emotional response the books evoke in their readers. The library’s database visualization project will invite visitors to filter, sort and order the library books in multiple informative ways: according to the emotional categories, the various languages, the relative popularity of a particular category, etc.

    Our webscapes and netvilles are increasingly dominated by short bursts of emotional language, brief stabs of charged textual opinion. And every minute those words build small cities of influence, beauty and terror, creating brief communities of poetic power. Textual Skyline explores these notions through a net­-based interactive, generative and multidimensional flash engine/interface using RSS news feeds to create a digital poetry city.
