    Criado por um grupo de docentes do então Departamento de Comunicação Social da Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas, no ano de 1983, cinco anos depois da criação da primeira Licenciatura em Comunicação Social em Portugal, o Centro de Estudos de Comunicação e Linguagens - CECL - é um centro de investigação que se dedica especificamente às problemáticas da comunicação e das linguagens numa perspectiva multidisciplinar.

    O CECL tem vindo a desenvolver, ao longo da sua actividade, uma investigação aprofundada na área das Ciências da Comunicação e da Linguagem, investigação essa que tem encontrado uma forma de divulgação natural e publicamente reconhecida na sua Revista de Comunicação e Linguagens, bem como no conjunto de publicações dos seus membros.

  9. St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Institute for Cultural Research was founded by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation,

    St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Institute for Cultural Research was founded by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, acting jointly with the Bureau of the Dept. for Literature and Language, Russian Academy of Sciences, basing upon resolution of the Academic Council of the Russian Institute for Cultural Research of 1997

    The foundation of the branch aimed mainly at the improvement of the structure of interdiscipliary, basic and applied research of culture. By the Resolution of the St. Petersburg Science Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Institute for Cultural Research was incorporated into the structure of science institutions of the St. Petersburg Science Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, run by the Russian Academy of Sciences. Liubava Moreva (Ph.D., ass. professor) was appointed its Director.

    Since 2004 Doctor of Philology Dimitri Spivak has been its Director.

    Since 2006 the Branch as well as the whole Institute have been subordinate to the Federal Agency of Culture and Cinematography.

  10. RIXC, The Centre for New Media Culture

    RIXC is the Center for New Media Culture founded in Riga, in 2000 (on a bases of E-LAB initiative, since 1996). The RIXC runs media laboratory (with Internet Radio), public events space (RIXC Media Space), new exhibition venue (RIXC Gallery at Spikeri) and Mediatheca (with audio/video archive and media art literature).
    RIXC is organiser of the annual new media culture festival "Art+Communication" (taking place in Riga since 1996) and publisher of "Acoustic Space" publication series – on internet radio, sound art, spectral ecology and network culture (since 1998).
