  2. Den digitale litterære kultur og bibliotekerne : Stram forretningsmodel eller litterær udfordring?

    E-bogen er blevet forsøgt lanceret flere gange i løbet af de sidste årtier og bogens død er ofte forudsagt. Uanset om bogen er døende, er litteraturens medier i opbrud, og derfor er der behov for en litteraturforståelse, som kan diskutere litteraturen som kunstform på tværs af medier og platforme. Her er der mulighed for at hente inspiration fra den digitale litteratur.
    Denne artikel tager udgangspunkt i analyser af to elektroniske bogformater og diskuterer, hvordan de lægger op til forskellige digitale litterære kulturer, hvilket har betydning for bl.a. bibliotekernes fremtid. Amazons Kindle lægger op til en form for ”kontrolleret forbrug”, mens Påvirket som kun et menneske kan være bruger det digitale til at understøtte læseoplevelsens
    intensitet. Bibliotekerne har som litteraturhuse interesse i en åben digital litteratur, der ikke
    kun er designet ud fra e-bogens forretningsmodel.

  3. E-Borges: Stuart Moulthrop’s Victory Garden

    This essay analyses Stuart Moulthrop’s Victory Garden (1991), a singular hyperfiction within the context of hypertextual narratives released during the 90s. Taking into consideration the campus novel and anti-war novel themes, I focus my reading on the technological mediation of war and the intertextualization of Jorge Luis Borges’ short story “El Jardín de Senderos que se Bifurcan” (1941). Therefore, I argue that Victory Garden is an appropriation and recreation, via a digital medium, of several Borgesian motifs and his beloved metaliterary theme: the labyrinth.

  4. Design som medievitenskapelig metode

    The author argues that design of media technologies, media genres and media texts should be an important part of media studies. Design methods in media studies compared to methods in sciences, especially computer science, can yield important results if researchers state their normative position clearly and apply rigorous evaluations of their results. Liestøl’s synthetic–analytic method is analysed as an example of a media design method.

  5. You are the one thinking this: locative poetry as deictic writing

    This article presents an experiment in locative literature. Using the textopia system for sharing of literary texts through spatial annotation and locative exploration with mobile devices, a commissioned work was created for a poetry festival. The project aimed to explore how professional, renowned poets could contribute a deepened understanding of the locative medium. The texts produced show two important traits. Firstly, a particular use of deictic relationships, in which words like “you” and “here” take on a particular importance, indicating that these words work like entry points for fiction and markers of make-believe. Secondly, a preoccupation with relations of absence and presence, both temporal and spatial, producing poetic recreations of a location's memory and spatial connections to the rest of the world.

  6. The Transducer Function: An Introduction to a Theoretical Typology in Electronic Literature and Digital Art

    In this essay I introduce the notion of transducer function in the fields of electronic literature and digital art. Firstly, I survey the transduction concept throughout its history in such domains as physics, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, physiology, psychology, philosophy, logic and computer science. Secondly, I discuss the relevance of a transduction theory versus the advantage of a transducer function. I migrate the transduction concept into the fields of electronic literature and digital art, showcasing the contexts of application, and several transfer processes and functions. Finally, I apply the transducer function as a theoretical typology and a recognizable system, highlighting some artworks by R. Luke DuBois, André Sier and Scott Rettberg that can be read within this framework. Thus, it means taking into account a set of transfer and conversion processes: information, patterns and data among mechanisms, technologies, themes, creative and theoretical guidelines. In this sense, I develop a critical framework that operates as a method for analyzing and comprehend further digital artworks.
