Grégory Chatonsky a étudié la philosophie à l'université de la Sorbonne et le multimédia aux Beaux-arts de Paris. Il a pris part à de nombreux projets solo et collectifs en France, Canada, Etats-Unis, Italie, Australie, Allemagne, Finlande, Espagne. Ses oeuvres ont été acquises par des institutions telles que la Maison européenne de la photograhie. Parallèlement, Grégory Chatonsky a fondé en 1994 un collectif de netartistes incident.net et a réalisé de nombreuses commmandes: site Internet du centre Pompidou et de la Villa Médicis, identité visuelle du MAC/VAL, fiction interactive pour Arte. Il a enseigné au Fresnoy en 2003-04 ainsi qu'à l'école des arts visuels et médiatiques de l'UQAM depuis 2006. Le travail de Chatonsky, tant par des installations interactives, des dispositifs en réseau et urbain, des photographies que des sculptures, interroge notre relation affective aux technologies, met en scène les flux dont notre époque est tissée pour créer de nouvelles formes de fiction. * Gregory Chatonsky is an artist born in Paris.   2. Robert Kendall

    Robert Kendall has been creating interactive multimedia poetry since 1990, making him one of the earliest practitioners of the form. He is the author of a book-length hypertext poem, A Life Set for Two (Eastgate Systems, 1996). His hypertext poetry has also appeared on disk in The Little Magazine and Version Box and is forthcoming in the anthology Behind the Lines (Eastgate). It has appeared on the Web at Iowa Review Web, BBC Online, Eastgate Hypertext Reading Room, Cauldron & Net, and Cortland Review. A Wandering City (Cleveland State University Poetry Center, 1992), his printed book of poems, won the CSU Poetry Center Prize. Kendall's printed poetry has appeared widely in magazines (including Rattapallax, Contact II, River Styx, New York Quarterly, Barrow Street, and Indiana Review), and several anthologies have included his work. He has received a New Jersey State Council on the Arts Fellowship for literature and a New Forms Regional Grant Program Award.

  3. Faith

    Faith is a kinetic poem that reveals itself in five successive states. Each new state is overlaid onto the previous one, incorporating the old text into the new. Each new state absorbs the previous one while at the same time engaging in an argument with it. The gradual textual unfolding is choreographed to music.

  4. Andy Campbell

    Andy Campbell is the Digital Director of UK-based arts/media charity One to One Development Trust and the founder/lead writer for Dreaming Methods, One to One’s award-winning in-house digital storytelling development studio. With over 20 years’ experience as a digital artist, writer and programmer, his recent work includes the collaborative narrative game All the Delicate Duplicates which won The Space Open Call competition, the Tumblr International Prize for Digital Art, Best Overall Game at the UK’s GameCity Festival and Best Experimental Game at the Dundee Games Design Awards; and WALLPAPER with writer/film-maker Judi Alston, an immersive game/installation supported by Arts Council England and Sheffield Hallam University with a VR adaptation funded by Creative England. He is the lead developer of Inanimate Alice, an episodic work of digital fiction for young adults used in multilingual education worldwide.

  5. forking paths

    This work was an early experiment with literary hypertext that has been discussed or mentioned in several early theoretical texts, but that has never been published in full because it mostly consists of text from Borges' short story "The Garden of Forking Paths". Moulthrop describes it as "a sort of low-grade literary pastiche concocted as a laboratory demonstration--or parlor game--for an undergraduate writing class in 1987." Documentation of the work, with most of the text from Borges' short story removed, is published on the CD that accompanies Montfort and Wardrip-Fruin's New Media Reader.

  6. Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries

    Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries is an art-duo based in Seoul. The members are Young-Hae Chang and Marc Voge and they call themselves web-artists. The group was founded in 1999 and has been working with web-art since then. The name Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries was chosen because, as the duo puts it, ''We live in a country -- South Korea -- that loves its big, powerful companies. We wanted to get some of that love.'' Following this logic, the artists have executive titles: Young-Hae Chang as the CEO and Marc Voge as the CIO. See also Young-Hae Chang and Marc Voge.

  7. Nightingale's Playground

    Andy Campbell and Judi Alston’s The Nightingale’s Playground is a digital fiction work that was created with Flash in 2010. The main character is Carl Robertson, who tries to figure out what has happened to his lost high-school friend Alex Nightingale. The piece leads the reader/player through a world experienced from Carl’s perspective. It consists of four individual parts, the first section “Consensus”, an interactive point- and click game that can be played online, downloadable “Consensus II” which transports the reader into a dark 3D flat with text snippets , the “Fieldwork book” is a browser based grungy sketchbook with puzzling notes and the last part is a PDF version of the story.

  8. The Strategy of Digital Modernism: Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries's Dakota

    from Project MUSE: A prominent strategy in some of the most innovative electronic literature online is the appropriation and adaptation of literary modernism, what I call “digital modernism.” This essay introduces digital modernism by examining a work that exemplifies it: Dakota by Young-hae Chang Heavy Industries. I read this Flash-based work in relation to its literary inspiration: the authors claim that Dakota is “based on a close reading of Ezra Pound's Cantos part I and part II.” The authorial framework claims modernism’s cultural capital for electronic literature and encourages close reading of its text, but the work’s formal presentation of speeding, flashing text challenges such efforts. Reading Dakota as it reads Pound’s first two cantos exposes how modernism serves contemporary, digital literature by providing a model of how to “MAKE IT NEW” by renovating a literary past.

  10. Interview with Michael Joyce

    Archivist Gabriela Redwine interviewed author Michael Joyce during his visit to the Ransom Center in April 2009. Excerpts from the interview are available as audio files and transcripts. Joyce talks about the reader community around early hypertexts, before they were even published and were just being passed from person to person on floppy disks, about connections between his work and Modernist authors (Stein, Joyce), about lowercase letters not being an obvious requirement to early computer programmers, about e-lit authors having to be their own critics and about the sensation of writing the first line of afternoon and knowing that this was different from conventional literature.
