    TOC is a multimedia epic about time: the invention of the second, the beating of a heart, the story of humans connecting through time to each other and to the world. An evocative fairy tale with a steampunk heart, TOC is a breath-taking visual novel, an assemblage of text, film, music, photography, the spoken word, animation, and painting. It is the story of a man who digs a hole so deep he can hear the past, a woman who climbs a ladder so high she can see the future, as well as others trapped in the clockless, timeless time of a surgery waiting room: God's time. Theirs is an imagined history of people who are fixed in the past, those who have no word for the future, and those who live out their days oblivious to both.

  2. Maybe Make Some Change

    (Author's description.) 

    “maybe make some change” merges parser-based interactive fiction with textual and multimedia layering to produce a confrontational exploration of a true event. Inspired by the trial of Adam Winfield, a whistleblower soldier accused of murder, the piece freezes a single battlefield moment and replays it from half a dozen violently conflicting perspectives.

    “change” questions the trust we place in narrators, and explores the fine edge between moral and immoral acts in a war zone. Juxtaposing its text narration with both footage of first-person shooters set during contemporary wars and online social networking pages of the accused soldiers, the piece also challenges the representation of and engagement with current events in mainstream interactive media.

    “change” was part of the jury-award-winning “‘what if im the bad guy’ and other stories” exhibition at the 2011 UC Santa Cruz Digital Arts & New Media MFA show.

    his award-winning Web documentary about a short-lived mining town in Canada made the 2011 New Media Writing Award shortlist. A masterful, lovingly produced piece is challenging to categorize in terms of genre: is it a video (its interactivity and born-digital ontology make it difficult to label as “film”), memoir, narrative, poem, or an artistic website? As a multimedia work (using audio, video, text, images) that requires multimodal engagement (reading, listening, viewing, interaction) from its audience, it is fittingly multi-generic.     Au cours de la performance Le dossier est vide, Juliette Mézenc lira un texte qui est un agencement/bégaiement créé à partir d’entretiens menés par Bourdieu ou Vollmann sur les questions de migration. Dans le même temps, Stéphane Gantelet fabrique des images en direct sur grand écran. La prolifération des fichiers créés lors des manipulations sur ordinateur, squelette numérique de la performance, entre dans un dialogue tantôt étroit tantôt lâche avec le texte lu pour conduire à la création d’un court film.

    Walid Raad's The Atlas Group Archive (1989-2004) is a transmedial, fictional 'archive' which supposedly encompasses donated testimonies on the war in Lebanon (1974-1991), including diary logs, photographs (some of which contain notes), and videos, archived on theatlasgroup.org. Apart from being published on the website, Raad's project has been exhibited in different galleries around the world.

  6. Fractalize 1: I've loved you from afar

    FRACTALIZE is a hypermedia fiction project created by Tony Vieira, with Lesley Loksi Chan and Arthur Yeung. The first installment, ”I've loved you from Afar,” is a fractal reminiscence of a romance across space and time. Created for Supercrawl 2017, a four day art and indie music festival in Hamilton, Canada, Fractalize is intended to exist both inside a gallery space as much as within the audience member’s smartphone. Narrative “fractals” will be delivered over the course of the five day ELO Conference and Festival via email and social media, with intentional knowledge gaps that users fill in based on their own experience, anxieties, and desires. Users experience the project in the form of VR/360º video gallery exhibit, video walks, web videos, photographs, original music, text messages, sound art, Spotify playlists, and social media posts. Characters within the narrative have their own social media identities which are regularly updated over the course of the exhibition, creating a blurring of the lines that separate reality and virtuality.

    A short multimedia-enhanced hypertext game about perpetual cycles of displacement and violence, as seen through the lens of a child. Takes about 15 minutes to read/play, and no gaming skills are required.

    Ishmael debuted at the 2017 Spring Thing interactive fiction festival, was selected to be showcased at the PixelPop Festival in St. Louis, was nominated for the "Best Social Impact Game" award at BIG: Brazil’s Independent Games Festival, was an IndieCade Finalist, and was shortlisted for the 2017 New Media Writing Prize
