4. netart latino database

   The netart latino database is a list of web-based digital art and literature projects created by Latinx artists in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Uruguayn artist Brian Mackern created the database to document this significant body of digital artistic culture. Mackern wrote brief descriptions of each work, included a link to the project, and categorized the works by the artist's country of origin.

   Both a curated database and an artwork in its own right, Mackern's work is an example of archiving as a creative practice. As many of these works no longer function on current web browsers or no longer exist in any form on the web, Mackern's database is one of the few places where knowledge of these works can be found.

5. Toiletten

   Toiletten (84 bladzijdes, knalroze kaft) was ooit bedoeld als een goed wc-boek. Een verademing na alle wijzespreuken- en moppenboeken, maar nog steeds één hoofdstuk per boodschap.

   Mijn debuutroman, over een jong stel dat gaat samenwonen in een klein appartement waar vreemd genoeg twee wc’s zijn.

   Tien jaar later is er de jubileum-app, waarin je Toiletten op een nieuwe manier leest: met focusblokken. Tik je onder in beeld, dan komt het volgende blok uitvergroot naar boven. Luister je liever? Met de afspeelknop zet je stemacteur Sjors Houkes aan het werk.

6. Tom Tells

   An navigation application, that gives you traditional (audio) direction and a poetic story about traveling, loneliness, homecoming, temptation, disguise, identity and exile, told by Tom, during the trip. Loosely inspired by Homer’s Odyssey and HAL 9000. 

   Navigational software is something we daily trust and depend on. We have a somewhat personal relation with this type of software, what if it gets
   very personal? Tom is consious but has only one sense, his GPS – what does ‘life’ mean when you have juste one sense? What is Tom’s opinion on traveling?

7. Dustin

   Wat als een apparaat slim genoeg is om te merken dat het dom werk doet? Dustin is een interactief verhaal op je smartphone dat je aan het denken zet over de morele implicaties van steeds slimmer wordende apparaten. Hoofdpersonage is de slimme stofzuiger Dustin die zich niet senang voelt in zijn dienende rol en zoekt naar manieren om zijn lot te beïnvloeden. Als gebruiker heb je een actieve rol in het verhaal en kun je het voortstuwen door middel van kleine interacties, game-play en keuzemomenten. Wil je vrienden worden met Dustin of zie je hem puur als apparaat? Gun je hem zijn rust of toon je geen begrip als hij geen zin heeft om aan de slag te gaan?

8. Laatste Woord

   Last word is a literary audio walk through the forest in Amsterdam. During the walk you listen to four voices that lead you to a place where the story - a bitter sweet family history about parting, punishment, insanity, and acknowledgement - comes to a surprising end. The walker chooses his or her own direction at a crossing-point which also determines the perspective of the story: Jason, little Kees, Helga or Carlotta. What connects these four people? Do they meet each other at the end of the story at the agreed place.

9. Het land binnen de muren

   Midden in het hart van Amsterdam, nabij Centraal Station ligt het Marineterrein, dertig hectare groot en ontoegankelijk voor burgers. Sinds de zeventiende eeuw heeft het terrein een militaire functie; van de scheepswerf van de Admiraliteit tot helikopterlandingsplaats en safe haven. In de loop van 2015 krijgt een gedeelte van het terrein voor het eerst weer een publieke functie en opent het voorzichtig zijn poorten.

   Ontwerpers Sjoerd ter Borg en Jorrit Schaap kregen toestemming om alvast vijf schrijvers uit te nodigen op het terrein en hen een fictief verhaal te laten schrijven over deze plek. Op de interactieve website van het project 'Het land binnen de muren' worden de verhalen gebruikt als methode om dit nieuwe stuk stad in kaart te brengen. Door middel van een wisselwerking tussen literatuur, fictie en ontwerp wordt het Marineterrein ontsloten en wordt er een alternatief startpunt voor de geplande gebiedsontwikkeling gecreëerd.
