2. Pentimento

   This narrative poem is a fascinating type of hypertext because instead of having five primary nodes from which to follow linear threads it uses a layering interface for navigation. The reader, instead of clicking on links, scrapes away at images to reveal an image beneath, and can continue to scrape away until she reaches the end of that narrative thread. 3. Cultures in Webs: Working in Hypermedia with the Documentary Image

   This CD-ROM explores how hypertextual writing and image-making merge in creating projects with nonfiction materials such as photographs, video clips, audio recordings and observational notes. The work includes two hypertextual field projects, one concerning a wine harvest in Burgundy, France, and the other concerning a series of performances in Ghana. The project uses an html-based format to weave among differing modes of writing and image-presentation. The section "The Harvest" was selected for exhibition in the 2001 ELO "State Of The Arts" symposium gallery. Based on two months of participant observation working the harvest at a small vineyard in France, the project combines diaristic writing, visual notes, dialog, exposition, and other forms of writing alongside a fifty-four image sequence. The work also includes videos and slide shows. "Concealed Narratives" offers two routes, interactive paths by which users travel to a series of public events in Ghana. The work explores how cultural battles are imagined and how stories get expressed through performances, visual tropes, and metaphors.

4. Catalogue: Nothingness

   "CATALOGUE: Nothingness" uses description, image, email and javascript to interrogate some of the cultural and mechanical forms that operate in online shopping. The work is designed to exist on a parallel plane with commercial shopping sites and to offer a menu of small interventions that extend outward into the world. The theme of nothingness was chosen for the catalogue in order to defamiliarize common structures found in online shops by substituting imaginary objects, states of being, and existential drama for regular items and marketing strategies.

5. Webessay

   What happens with an essay when it abandons the set form of book pages, and steps out into the internet's virtual space? Webessay is an invitation into a digital meta-essay: an enormous text-tapestry of quotations, photos, rt and music produced from the two essayists associations and personal library, and arranged into four metaphorical trips: the scientific expedition, the internal journey, the big city holiday, and space tourism. The travelers move past over fifty different stops in all, and are sketched out with the help of many hundreds of airmail-striped envelopes. The program is organized so that the traveler can follow the predetermined routes' tracks, or take a spontaneous trip with the help of self-selected links. You can search in the depths, surf freely away in a labyrinth of hypertexts, or you can choose to be led by the webessay's composition. You're guaranteed to get lost, and find something you weren't expecting.

6. Eclipse Louisiana

   This hypertext poem makes clever use of HTML in its design to tell the story of a speaker’s associations with a place in in the Louisiana bayou, relationships, and the moon. This piece is designed for a 500 x 500 pixel window and uses the now discontinued frame tag to separate the space into navigation (bottom) and textual (top) frames.

9. tExtra.Tour (tExtra.Touren)

   tExtra.Touren is a collection of experimental literary works gassners oliver. Besides the known projects for the internet that use textual and visual elements, the hyper-literary edition including recent mail and copy-art projects as well as audio recordings of lectures. tExtra.Touren share consists of the "paper-copy mail.art ---. txt ---. --- sound. html". there go the early work seamlessly into the network since 1983 literary work on since 1996. all work gassners, whether on paper, as a copy, fax, mail or digital network literature, provide a kind of media-hacking: using simple means, the medium broken, to bring its procedures have revealed. gassner initiated a new poetics of writing, under network conditions, which can break the language use. 10. Program:Møntvask

    A photo- and text mosaic made by the group StadtFlur. The piece illustrates the drop-in washeries of Cobenhagen, through texts of the industries' golden age and downfall and pictures of interior design and the trivial. A booklet (PDF) was part of the project, distributed in a limited edition, to about thirty of the washeries of Cobehagen.
