    interactive immersive installation with responsive language system

    Presence is a three beam interactive video projection installation commissioned for the Art Machine II exhibition at the Maclellan Galleries, Glasgow. It is composed of three screens using high resolution video projectors and three computers with a remote visual sensing system for viewer interaction. On the main screen are visible a number of actors who are individually interactive with the audience and with each other. Another screen features an enormous upside down shadow, whilst another is composed of a giant talking mouth. The piece uses object oriented and behavioural programming techniques.

  3. Speaking Clock

    A HyperCard stack that generates poetry (from an existing list of terms) based on the computer's internal time.  In addition to a static text around the edges of the clock (which can cycle with clicking), a dynamically-generated text appears in the center.

  4. Leaving the City: Indra's Net V

    A HyperCard stack consisting of an interactive literary piece.  "Leaving the City" takes two works - a lecture on poetry, and a poem - and blends them via collocational algorithms.  The algorithm takes a word chosen and, based on the x-coordinates of the cursor, will randomly choose which text to move into.  By creating a branching work - the two texts flow in and out of each other based on the underlying scripts - these "collocational jumps" generate a unique text.

  5. Frontières Vomies (Borders vometing)

    Le roman "Frontières vomies" se déroule selon différentes orientations que le lecteur choisit en répondant aux sollicitations affichées sur l'écran. Quel que soit le choix fait, le récit se poursuit jusqu'à la fin. En fait, il navigue le long d'une tresse en empruntant l'un ou l'autre des brins, dans un sens ou dans l'autre. C'est lui qui décide : soit il va au plus vite vers la fin quitte à recommencer plus tard par d'autres voies, soit il flâne en cherchant à reconnaître chacune des voies possibles quitte à retomber de temps à autre dans certains passages uniques.   6. The Castle

    interactive large scale outdoor environment with non-linear language engine

    The Castle is a large scale interactive video projection designed for specific architectural sites. The title makes reference to Kafka's novel of the same name, the work taking as its subject the incomprehensible character of systems of administration and power. The work is composed of four large independently interactive figures, reminiscent of public sculptures on public buildings. It also uses a crude grammar engine to generate short statements, which reflect the activity of the figures and that of the viewers.
