4. The Eden Database

   If the codes that make up digital images are unique like the people in the images are unique, then we might imaginatively think of these codes as a form of digital DNA. The Eden Database contains 32 detail plus 32 derived index records of digital image code samples taken from descendants of Eve in the summer and fall of year 2002. The Eden Database features dynamic record retrieval and reporting functions -- auto, select, scroll, and random. Users will choose these and related sub-functions to generate system standard plus recombinant code samples custom reports.

   A gorge is a steep-sided canyon, a passage, a gullet. To gorge is to stuff with food, to devour greedily. Gorge is a poetry generator, a never-ending tract spewing verse approximations, poetic paroxysms on food, consumption, decadence and desire.

   The source code for Gorge is a hack of Montfort’s elegant poetry generator Taroko Gorge.

    Sydney's Siberia is a zoomable poem.

    It is not technology making our wires, nodes and swimming data streams, our ever growing networks, beautiful. Instead it is the stories/poetics, the forever coalescing narratives that form the inter/intranet into a vitally compelling mosaic To explore, simply mouse-over/navigate to an appealing square, click and click, read, contemplate connections and repeat. Sydney’s Siberia recreates how networks build exploratory story-scapes through an interactive zooming, clicking interface. Using 121 poetic/story image tiles, the artwork dynamically generates mosaics, infinitely recombining to build new connections/collections based on the users movements.
