Poemas no meio do caminho
This is a combinatory text. There are two versions of the text – two ways of reading it: horizontally and vertically. Both versions allow the reader to save her own textual production, and then to send that production to a weblog. The reader can recombine the text according to the paradigmatic axis of language: the reader selects, the machine morphs/combines. However, some “obligatory” options resist. By quoting Dante, Poemas no meio do caminho is a metaphor of the reading practice: “poemas no meio do caminho da leitura” (“poems midway upon the journey of reading”). It suggests an ephemeral poetic construction that appears and vanishes in a click. On the one hand these poems destroy the sacredness of the poetic language; on the other they realize the poïesis.This work has won (ex-aequo) the 4t Premi Internacional "Ciutat de Vinaròs" de Literatura Digital.

Frequency
Frequency is a poetry generator written in Ruby, and part of a larger constrained writing process. The lines of all the poems in Frequency are constrained by the fact that I used only 200 of the most common English words in them. The poems generated by Frequency are built from a pool of 2000 lines I wrote. The process of writing the lines was not aided by the machine and was painstaking work. I wrote a set of ten lines beginning with each word, only using the other words in this list in the rest of the line. It is perhaps not unsurprisingly difficult to make meaningful expressions with such a limited vocabulary, but in the end I was surprised by how flexible these base units of our language can be. The poetry generator itself runs from a command line interface, and can algorithmically assemble poems according to a number of different rhyme scheme, syllabic, and spatial criteria.

Taroko Gorge
A poetry generator produced first in Python and then implemented in Javascript, Montfort's "Taroko Gorge" generates nature poetry about the national park of the same name in Taiwan. Since its initial publication, the program has been hacked, remixed, and reimplemented by a number of other authors.

Fred & George
Fred and George Weasley are the redheaded twins from the Harry Potter series and this poem poses them as lovers, endlessly stroking (etc.) fingers, wands, mouths, etc. and generally engaging in acts considered taboo for siblings in most cultures. This “Taroko Gorge” remix has the distinction of having the shortest data set among the remixes to date, proving that when one wishes to produce an endless poem, size doesn’t matter. More importantly, it concentrates the number of permutations of its elements so while it becomes repetitive sooner, it also takes less time to reach its conceptual climax. Reimbox
Die Reimbox ist ein Gedichtgenerator, der algorhithmisch Gedichte generieren und vorlesen kann. Die generierten Gedichte sind metrisch geordnet und gereimt. Die Reimbox wurde nicht darauf hin trainiert, sinnvolle Texte zu erstellen, vielmehr soll gezeigt werden, wie kreativ eine Maschine mit Sprache umgehen kann. Die Reimbox verführt den Zuhörer zurück in die Zeit des Dadaismus, in der versucht wurde, die künstlich auferlegten Grenzen der Sprache zu sprengen. Die Reimbox soll zudem verdeutlichen, wie sehr sich unsere Vorstellungen von Begriffen wir „Autor“, „Werk“ und „Kreativität“ durch die Anwendung und Verbreitung von algorhithmischer Literatur einem Paradigmenwechsel unterziehen werden müssen.

'Sintext-W' (1999-2000) is a Java version for the Web of the text generator 'Sintext,' (1993) with the collaboration by José Manuel Torres. According to the Web Java demo, 'Sintext-W' can be understood as: In this space the cybernaut can have a first contact with the automatic text generator 'Sintext-W' (Text Synthesizer). The user can visualize the automatic generation of 3 generative texts available here: · 'Didáctica' (example) · 'Balada de Portugal' (extract) · 'Teoria do Homem Sentado' (fragment) For this purpose it is enough that the user clicks on the buttons located below, under the 2nd display window; in the 1st window one may consult the matrix-text which originates it. The text's flow rate may be accelerated or delayed by two controllers; the user can also choose to execute the texts in an endless cycle as a continuous creation of new meanings. « Réponse à Claude Adelen » est un programme générateur de Jean-Pierre Balpe, créé en 1992. Il est disponible sur le dossier « Kaos – Action poétique », dans le fichier « 12 ». (Pour cette entrée, le programme a été accédé par un Power Mac G3, Mac OS 8, ce qui a posé des problèmes en accédant à toutes les capacités du programme.) « Réponse à Claude Adelen » est une vraie réponse à un « défi » proposé par Claude Adelen dans la revue « Action poétique 129/130 » publiée en 1992. Dans une section intitulée «À Jean-Pierre Balpe concernant l’écriture machinale», Adelen met au défi le potentiel de l’ordinateur de Balpe en doutant s’il peut imiter le style du poème « calque ». Le poème généré, ou poème « décalqué », doit être assez similaire aux poèmes d’Adelen pour le duper. Adelen a choisi deux poèmes du recueil L’amour des mots : un poème de Jacques Dupin qui est un extrait de L’embrasure et un poème de Pierre Jean Louve qui est un extrait de Matière céleste (Nada).

This kinetic poetry generator is based on the texts by two polar authors, husband and wife, Anna Akhmatova and Nikolay Gumilev. Letters from their decomposed texts are moving according to the magnetic field principle like positively and negatively charged particles. The work is produced by two authors, a computer programmer and an artist, who are also husband and wife.
