    PO.EX (http://po-ex.net) is a digital archive of Portuguese Experimental Literature that began in 2005. This literary database is coordinated by Rui Torres, at the University Fernando Pessoa, in Oporto, Portugal, and was funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia [Foundation for Science and Technology] (FCT) and the European Union, under two main research projects: “CD-ROM da PO.EX: Poesia Experimental Portuguesa, Cadernos e Catálogos” [The PO.EX CD-ROM: Portuguese Experimental Poetry, Notebooks and Catalogues] (2005-2008) and “PO.EX’70-80: Arquivo Digital da Literatura Experimental Portuguesa” [PO.EX’70-80: Digital Archive of Portuguese Experimental Literature] (2010-2013).

  3. Digital Arena: Ottar Ormstad - a yellow y in motion

    Ottar Ormstad is a Norwegian concrete poet and digital artist. In this presentation he speaks about his print works and shows his experimental films.

    The presentation comes along with a lecture "From Print to Kinetic Visual Poetry" by PhD Scholar Patricia Tomaszek (University of Bergen) who demonstrates how Ormstad’s print-based work intrinsically implies motion.

    The series is produced by the University of Bergen Electronic Literature Research Group & Digital Culture Program in collaboration with the Bergen Offentlige Bibliotek.

    An anthology of Portuguese experimental poetry, focusing on visual poetry. The collection includes several authors and works, e.g. Silvestre Pestana's Computer Poetry series (1981-83), programmed in BASIC on a ZX-81 and Spectrum. The book's cover is a photograph of the original work displayed on a TV screen.

  7. poésie dynamique

    Pour analyser la poésie sur ordinateur et la poésie sur le Web (bien que ce dernier n’étant qu’un dérivatif du premier, puisque le coeur, le fond, l’essentiel même du Web réside dans l’ordinateur) nous avons à déblayer le terrain de la route qui nous y a conduit. Il est évident que cette poésie n’a pas surgi du néant. L’approche peut se faire selon trois axes: le premier étant la poésie d’aspect classique mais combinatoire, le deuxième la poésie visuelle et le troisième la poésie
    sonore.

  8. Entrevista a Rui Torres

    Rui Torres is Associate Professor at University Fernando Pessoa (UFP) in Porto and also author of several works of digital poetry. In this interview he explains how he started working in this field and where his inspiration comes from. Furthermore he explains why he sees the works of electronic literature as literary experiments and his concept of aesthetics taking in account his privilege for multimedia and the active participation of the readers in the creation of some his works. In the end he makes some considerations about preservation and archiving of works of electronic literature.

    certain respects, as ancient history – a function of the notorious acceleration of cultural and
    media development since the explosive growth of the Web after 1994. And yet, it chiefly
    describes a productive engagement with writing in programmable and, latterly, networked
    media which dates back, in my own case, to the late 1970s, an all-too-human, rather than
    silicon-enhanced, historical context.
