    In this paper I will discuss three recent electronic art works in which biological processes or interfaces are investigated. These works are entitled "Teleporting an Unknown State" (1994/96), "A-positive" (1997), and "Time Capsule" (1997) The first work created a situation in which actual photosynthesis and growth of a living organism took place over the Internet. The second piece proposed a dialogical exchange between a human being and a robot through two intravenous hookups. The third approached the problem of wet interfaces and human hosting of digital technologies through the implantation of a memory microchip

  2. Questionamento quanto às tecnologias da telepresença

    Os estudos que definem a telepresença como "estar lá", através da mediação tecnológica, evitam mostrar o uso desta tecnologia para fins polêmicos. A presença física estendida como o auxílio dos aparatos de telecomunicação torna o espaço físico distante perscrutável e vulnerável. Por permitur o monitoramento, a vigia e a ação remota, essa tecnologia implica o redimensionamento da noção de território. Entrte os animais, a presença e a noção de território que vem atrelada a ela é importante para a sobrevivência da espécie.

    Gig 1.0, the first ELO event that we organized shortly after the ELO's formation. It took place on December 11, 1999 in a loft above a warehouse in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood, the "Deadtech Gallery." The event included electronic literature, telepoetry, performance poetry, and musical performances, featuring Joseph Tabbi, The Unknown (Scott Rettberg, William Gillespie, Dirk Stratton), Kurt Eric Heintz, Roderick Coover, Rob Wittig, Robert Arellano, Paul Kotheimer, Anne Bargar, Newspoetry, and others.
