    Author description: Andromeda is an augmented reality journey poem about stars, loss and women named Isabel, enabled by a unique software solution and a custom marker library. Augmented reality overlays digital imagery on physical objects and in this piece, the power of robust, multiple, simultaneous recognition with sound activated through proximity has been made easy to work with through the addition of a MAX/MSP interface. It is a unique authoring environment and a wonderful medium for poetic expression. Andromeda is the first fully realized poem written using this software, but is part of a larger suite of poems, tabletop theatre, web-viewable and immersive augmented reality fictions being built by Fisher. Andromeda uses a found pop-up book, overlaid with augmented reality markers.

  2. Roulette

    Roulette is a work of recombinant narrative that offers a novel interactive reading experience. As lines of text shift and fade in response to user manipulation of the 3-D interface, a fractured collection of stories is revealed, shifting in mood and meaning with each reading.

  4. open.ended

    Author description: open.ended is an interactive three-dimensional poem experienced through the interplay of shifting geometric surfaces. Verses appear on the faces of separate translucent cubes nested within one another. The reader manipulates a mouse, joystick, or touch-screen to bring stanzas on different surfaces into view. As cubes, faces, and layers are revealed, dynamically updating lines of text move in and out of focus. The structure of the poem facilitates a multiplicity of readings: from single verses on cube faces, to sequential verses across faces, to juxtapositions of verses across multiple cubes. Meaning is constructed actively through collaboration between reader, author, and mediated work. An audio track of the authors' layered voices extends the experience, enveloping the reader in the atmosphere of the poem, organically complementing the visual and tactile components of the work.

  5. A Place Called Ormalcy

    A Place Called Ormalcy is a digital fiction designed for, and developed in, Virtual Reality. It’s comprised of a text-based story made up of seven short Chapters housed in 3D/Virtual Reality environments that can be accessed via mobile devices, desktop PCs and via a large range of Virtual Reality hardware. This VR story was constructed with each chapter (comprised of 3D models, text, and audio) compiled using Sketchfab. In January 2019, A Place Called Ormalcy was shortlisted for the New Media Writing Prize and in December 2018 was also showcased at the Art Expo of the 2018 International Conference on Interactive Digital Storytelling in Dublin, Ireland (sponsored by Microsoft Ireland). Earlier in 2018, the project was also a finalist in the 2018 Queensland Literary Awards in the Digital Literature category.
