2. The Precession

   The Precession is a data-driven networked poem being developed simultaneously as both a large-scale installation and live performance. The work makes use of original writing and real-time data collection to create visual-poetic arrangements based on inquiries into architecture and the night sky. The piece mixes databased sources, real-time interruptions, and algorithmic composition in an evolving ecology.

   The Precession considers as a primary source Oskar J.W. Hansen's sculpture Winged Figures of the Republic permanently installed at the Hoover Dam. Hansen's 1935 work commemorates the building of the dam and includes a complex celestial map. Beginning with the date of the dam's dedication, the map contains the data for someone skilled in astronomy to accurately trace the position of the polestar each subsequent night for the next 26,000 years.

   The online work, in its current state of development, is mainly time-based taking approximately 20 minutes (with links to individual areas also accessible).

3. exquisite_code

   exquisite_code is an algorithmic performance system for heterogeneous groups of writers. The writers generate prompts and responses for var1 minute session at the end of which computational devices select/mangle text according to var2 edit. Mangled text outputs get displayed to writers who, in unrelenting sessions, generate further prompts and responses, with chunk on chunk piled up to create a c[ad]aver[n]ous exquisite_code life-work.

4. The Torrent

   Based on a damaged BitTorrent file of Jean Rollin's erotic horror film The Night of the Hunted (1980), The Torrent translates cross-cultural file error into new narrative configuration. 5. The River Dart

   This poetic performance on Twitter is a series of observations focused on the Dart river and its environs in Devon, England. The earliest tweets on this account, which started on November 19, 2009, focused on the practicalities of walking along the river, and rapidly settled into a language based study of the river and its environs. The tweets exhibit a curious mixture of subjective and objective perceptions, writing from a very personal perspective without falling into Romanticism. It is more like Olson’s dictum that “ONE PERCEPTION MUST IMMEDIATELY AND DIRECTLY LEAD TO A FURTHER PERCEPTION,” but captured and delivered over time via Twitter. 6. Flow

   [ flow = lecture performative narrative ] Opus n° 2 de la série des flux commencée avec « flog ». Flow est le texte d'une fiction construite à la fois sur des moments issus de mon histoire familiale, de l'actualité contemporaine en matière de politique de l'accueil des étrangers et de l'histoire qui nous est contée dans le film Lettre à mon ami Pol Cèbe, 1970, de Michel Desrois et avec Antoine Bonfanti et José Thiais, des groupes Medvedkines.

   Flow croise différentes époques et régimes narratifs : histoire familiale, histoire politique (les Groupes Medvedkine) et actualité contemporaine.

   Flow s'attache à conter une histoire, celle d'une bande d'amis ouvriers, qui un jour de 1967 partent en voiture pour Lille, projeter l'un de leurs films dans un cinéma. Ils prennent en autostop un homme avec une drôle d'auréole sur la tête, à leur demande, celui-ci leur raconte une histoire. Il leur conte celle de mamy Mireille de Sangatte qui en 2008 sera mise en examen pour délit de solidarité. Le texte met en scène le téléscopage de ces deux époques, l'une ravivant l'autre, à quarante ans d'intervalle...

7. Buscando Al Sr. Goodbar (Looking for Mr. Goodbar)

   “Buscando Al Sr. Goodbar” is a journey through Murcia, Spain that involves a search for the locations and authors of various YouTube videos produced in the city.

   If the longitude and latitude coordinates are included with a video when publishing it on YouTube, then this video automatically appears on a GoogleEarth map and connects it to a physical location. A link is therefore made between the YouTube video and where it was produced in the city.

   A bus tour was organized by Michelle Teran, who visited Murcia repeatedly via GoogleEarth and started to get to know intimately some of the people living there through the YouTube videos they produced. As the bus moved through the city, its movements along the streets were mirrored on a GoogleEarth map. YouTube videos were played corresponding to where they appeared on the map and could be viewed on a large flat screen.
