Short biography:
Born in Sao Paulo in 1959, Leirner studied cinema at ECA/USP, moving to Europe in 1981. Both her first collective and first solo exhibitions were held at MASP (Museum of Art, São Paulo) in 1976 and 1978. Commissioned by MAC (Museum of Contemporary Art, São Paulo), she also created the exhibition "Palavra Imágica," relating Brazilian poetry and art in 1986.
