3. Futures of Digital Studies 2010

   The conference focused on the dialogue between forms of digital literacy connected with recent technological developments in networked and programmable media in relation to human expression and forms of representation. We seek to put in conversation digital artists and digital critics in order to examine the "state of the art" of digitally mediated practices and to envision possible futures for the current overlapping platforms, software, formats, hardware and artistic processes through which we experience digital culture. The two-day conference's thematic focus on the 'literary' in the digital age was integrated with a fundamental attention to visual art, music and sound, computer science, and other aspects of digital culture through an art exhibit and a concluding roundtable videoconference session with an international group of participants.

6. Electronic Literature Organization 2007 Symposium: The Future of Electronic Literature

   The Electronic Literature Organization’s Future of Electronic Literature Symposium at MITH at the University of Maryland, College Park was an event that brought e-lit writers, scholars, and an interested public together for an open mouse/open mic, a daylong symposium, and an ELO board meeting. Highlights included Katherine Hayle’s keynote (nicely summarized at jilltxt), considering the idea of “literary” vs. “literature” and providing very intelligent close readings of a variety of works of electronic literature, readings from new works by Stephanie Strickland, Rob Kendall, Nick Montfort, Deena Larsen, and others, as well as three very good panel discussions. The process-intensive panel looked at the idea of process from several different angles ranging from process-intensive collaboration, to natural language interface processing, to story generation.

   Les Immatériaux est le nom d'une exposition initiée par le Centre de Création Industrielle, qui s'est déroulée au Centre national d'art et de culture Georges-Pompidou à Paris du 28 mars au 15 juillet 1985. Son premier titre aurait dû être « Nouveaux matériaux de création », mais l'arrivée du philosophe Jean-François Lyotard bouleverse tout le projet qui devient un véritable manifeste de la post-modernité et un important jalon dans l'histoire du rapport entre Art et Technologie.

   Les Immatériaux was an exhibition at the Centre Georges-Pompidou in 1985, often cited as an important event in the reationship between technology and art. The exhibition included some of the first works of electronic literature publicly exhibited in France.

8. TechnoPoetry Festival 2002

   TechnoPoetry Festival 2002 showcases the work of leading artist/poets who use digital techniques. They compose with new linguistic media, including holograms, bio-states, network flows, game structures, interactive multimedia Web installations, and experimental video projects. These forms are often combined with older poetic forms: speech, image, song, alphabetic text, and Chinese characters. Many of the works explore the meaning of the relationships between body, biology, and technology. This event brings internationally recognized artists from Europe and New York to the campus, and it also features the work of Georgia Tech media artists and theorists, Diane Gromala, Sha Xin Wei, and Eugene Thacker. TechnoPoetry Festival 2002 is produced by poet Stephanie Strickland, and takes place April 1 and 2 from 4:00 to 10:00 PM in the Wesley Center for New Media. Interactive exhibits and reception 4:00 to 7:00 PM, artist presentations and discussion from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. On Tuesday night there will also be a dance performance at 9:30 PM. 9. Electronic Literature Collection, Volume 2 Launch

   On 2 May 2011, the Electronic Literature Research Group at the Department of Linguistic, Literary, and Aesthetic Studies, University of Bergen hosted two special events at the Bergen Public Library celebrating the launch of the Electronic Literature Collection, Volume 2. The Electronic Literature Collection, Volume 2 is an international anthology of more than 60 works of electronic literature published under a Creative Commons license online and on DVD.

   The publication of the Electronic Literature Collection, Volume 1 in 2006 had a significant impact on the field of electronic literature, giving readers and educators a common set of referents in the form of a diverse collection of literary works made for digital media. The ELC, Volume 2, published in 2011, offers new digital poetry, hypertext fiction, interactive fiction, multimedia documentaries, and a variety of other forms of electronic literature. The University of Bergen program in Digital Culture was one of the sponsors of the publication of the ELC 2 and will make use of it in its future courses.
