Arte Cibernética - Coleção Itaú Cultural
Arte Cibernética - Coleção Itaú Cultural de 3 de outubro a 25 de novembro. O Instituto Itaú Cultural motiva a produção de conteúdo que concilie a tecnologia, a cultura e a arte desde sua criação. Para isto, o instituto se uniu a Estação Cabo Branco, em João Pessoa, para lançar a exposição Arte Cibernética - Coleção Itaú Cultural, que ocorrerá a partir do dia 3 de outubro até 25 de novembro. A exposição consiste na exibição de oito obras da coleção presente no instituto, que também mantém a Enciclopédia Itaú Cultural de Arte e Tecnologia como incentivo ao conteúdo desta produção artística.

III Mostra 3M de Arte Digital
Technophagies is the central concept of the III 3M Digital Art Show, accomplished at Instituto Tomie Ohtake, in São Paulo, from August 15 to September 16, 2012. The exhibition has gathered artists who stand out for the creative and critical use of technologies and media. In their approaches, they manifest a combination between high- and low-tech, and the new accommodations among immemorial and last-generation knowledges. Paratext in Digital Culture: Is Paratext Becoming the Story? Pasts, Presents and Futures of Paratext in Digital Culture
In December 2012, a one-day workshop "Exploring Paratexts in Digital Contexts" was organized at the University of Bergen by the Digital Culture Research Group. The point of departure of this first workshop was paratextual theory as it was first articulated by Gérard Genette in 1987 (Seuils / English translation Paratexts. Thresholds of Interpretation 1997). This event was followed by the book Examining Paratextual Theory and its Applications in Digital Culture edited by Nadine Desrochers and Daniel Apollon (IGI Global, forthcoming Summer 2014). These two initiatives have revealed a strong interest in the academic community for appraising the potential and limits of paratextual theory in digital culture.
The Digital Culture and Electronic Literature Research Groups at UiB organizes this follow-up workshop Paratext in Digital Culture: Is Paratext Becoming the Story? to share ongoing research on paratextual devices, functions and strategies in digital culture and brainstorm about new research opportunities. The participants will explore further how paratext and related concepts may contribute to a better understanding of the nature and function of digital objects.

ISEA2015 Disruption
ISEA2015’s theme of DISRUPTION invites a conversation about the aesthetics of change, renewal, and game-changing paradigms. We look to raw bursts of energy, reconciliation, error, and the destructive and creative forces of the new. Disruption contains both blue sky and black smoke. When we speak of radical emergence we must also address things left behind. Disruption is both incremental and monumental. In practices ranging from hacking and detournement to inversions of place, time, and intention, creative work across disciplines constantly finds ways to rethink or reconsider form, function, context, body, network, and culture. Artists push, shape, break; designers reinvent and overturn; scientists challenge, disprove and re-state; technologists hack and subvert to rebuild. Disruption and rupture are fundamental to digital aesthetics. Instantiations of the digital realm continue to proliferate in contemporary culture, allowing us to observe ever-broader consequences of these effects and the aesthetic, functional, social and political possibilities that arise from them.

The New Unconscious
Sigmund Freud understood the unconscious as a place of libidinal repression. Art in turn found inspiration in psychoanalysis—surrealism took as its manifesto Freud’s The Interpretation of Dreams (1913), and later abstract expressionism explored the irrational desires of the Freudian unconscious. With new technologies of the 21st century, science exposed a deeper mental reality and proved that human behavior is the product of an endless stream of perceptions, feelings, and thoughts, at both the conscious and unconscious levels. Even with technologies today that allow for an empirical observation of the mind, reality itself is still debated. As in gestalt theory, the brain completes external imagery the eye cannot produce—all done at an unconscious level. If a central function of the unconscious is to fill in the blanks in order to construct a useful picture of reality, how does this affect our understanding of the world? “The New Unconscious” explores how human behavior is dually dictated by the conscious and unconscious mind.

The exhibition Cmptr Grrrlz brings together more than 20 international artistic positions that negotiate the complex relationship between gender and technology in past and present. Computer Grlz deals with the link between women and technology from the first human computers to the current revival of technofeminist movements. An illustrated timeline with over 200 entries covers these developments from the 18th century to the present. Invited are artists, hackers, makers and researchers who are working on how to think differently about technology: by questioning the gender bias in big data and Artificial Intelligence, promoting an open and diversified Internet, and designing utopian technologies.
Computer Grrrls is an exhibition by HMKV (Hartware MedienKunstVerein), Dortmund (DE), in coproduction with La Gaîté Lyrique, Paris (FR). The participating artists come from 16 countries: Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Russia, Switzerland, Turkey, UK, USA, and Yugoslavia/Serbia.
