He is best known for his work on the challenges of human–computer interaction, particularly while at his Augmentation Research Center Lab in SRI International, resulting in the invention of the computer mouse,[3] and the development of hypertext, networked computers, and precursors to graphical user interfaces.

    Waldemar Cordeiro (Roma, Itália 1925 - São Paulo SP 1973). Pintor, paisagista, crítico de arte, teórico de arte, desenhista, ilustrador. Chega a São Paulo em 1946. Faz parte do Grupo Ruptura com Geraldo de Barros, Lothar Charoux, Féjer, Leopoldo Haar, Luiz Sacilotto e Anatol Wladislaw, que em 1952 teve sua primeira exposição no Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo (MAM/SP).

    Lidera o movimento concreto em São Paulo. Em 1965, recebe o Prêmio Itamaraty na Exposição Internacional de Arquitetura, realizada por ocasião da 8ª Bienal Internacional de São Paulo. Em 1970, introduz a computer art no meio artístico brasileiro. Ainda nesse ano participa de várias exposições de computer art: Computer Plotter Art, na Galeria do Usis (considerada a primeira mostra de computer art realizada na América Latina); Computer Graphic 70, na Brunek University, Londres; Computer Graphic Artman, Rio de Janeiro; Computer Grahic Roof of Groenland, em Amsterdã; e Computer 70 Olympia, em Londres.
