1. ELMCIP Seminar on Electronic Literature Communities

   The first seminar of the ELMCIP Project was held September 20-21, 2010 in Bergen at Landmark Café at the Kunsthall and the University of Bergen. The seminar focused on how different forms of community, based on local, national, language groups, shared cultural practices and interest in particular literary and artistic genres, form and are sustained, particularly electronic literature communities.The program included a day-long public seminar on September 20th at the Landmark Kunsthall, where participants examined specific cultural traditions in electronic literature, include examples from France, the Netherlands, the Scandinavian countries, the USA, the community of interactive fiction, the Poetry beyond Text project in the UK, and others. Participants also heard from organizers of electronic arts and literary communities in Bergen.That evening the recently released documentary on interactive fiction "Get Lamp" was screened, and the audience had the opportunity to discuss the film with its director, Jason Scott. The public program concluded the following evening with readings and demonstrations of electronic literature.

2. ELMCIP Conference on Remediating the Social

   The Electronic Literature as a Model of Creativity and Innovation in Practice (ELMCIP) research project invited scholars, artists, researchers and performers to its final conference and exhibition. The event, running from Nov. 1-3, 2012, was hosted by Edinburgh College of Art in collaboration with New Media Scotland and University College Falmouth within the framework of the ELMCIP research project. The event was held at Inspace, a purpose-built research and exhibition facility at the University of Edinburgh, fully instrumented to facilitate engagement with developments in new technologies, scientific research and creative practice.

3. Electronic Literature Organization 2017: Affiliations, Translations, Communities (ELO 2017)

   The ELO (Electronic Literature organization) organized its 2017 Conference, Festi-val and Exhibits, from July 18-22, at University Fernando Pessoa, Porto, as well as several other venues located in the center of the historic city of Porto, Portugal.

   Titled Electronic  Literature:  Affiliations,  Communities,  Translations,  ELO’17  proposes  a  reflection  about  dialogues  and  untold  histories  of  electronic  literature,  providing a space for discussion about what exchanges, negotiations, and movements we can track in the field of electronic literature.

   The  three  threads  (Affiliations,  Communities,  Translations)  weave  through  the Conference,  Festival  and  Exhibits,  structuring  dialogue,  debate,  performances, presentations, and exhibits. The threads are meant as provocations, enabling constraints, and aim at forming a diagram of electronic literature today and expanding awareness of the history and diversity of the field.

4. Communities - Signs, Actions, Codes

   This  exhibit  acknowledges  the  wide  range  of  community  practices  converging  and  sharing  reflections,  tools  and  processes  with  electronic  literature,  as  they challenge  its  ontological  status.  Implying  an  existing  set  of  relationships,  communities, such as those represented in this exhibit - the Artists’ Books, ASCII Art, net  Art,  Hacktivism/Activism,  Performance  Art,  Copy  Art,  Experimental  Poetry,  Electronic Music, Sound Art, Gaming, and Visual Arts communities - share a common aesthetic standpoint and methods; but they are also part of the extremely multiple  and  large  community  of  electronic  literature.  Our  aim  is  to  figure  out  the nature and purposes of this dialogue, apprehending, at the same time, their fundamental contributions to electronic literature itself.
