2. ELMCIP Conference on Remediating the Social

   The Electronic Literature as a Model of Creativity and Innovation in Practice (ELMCIP) research project invited scholars, artists, researchers and performers to its final conference and exhibition. The event, running from Nov. 1-3, 2012, was hosted by Edinburgh College of Art in collaboration with New Media Scotland and University College Falmouth within the framework of the ELMCIP research project. The event was held at Inspace, a purpose-built research and exhibition facility at the University of Edinburgh, fully instrumented to facilitate engagement with developments in new technologies, scientific research and creative practice.

3. Electronic Literature Exhibit at the 2012 MLA Convention

   A special exhibit of electronic literature at the 2012 Modern Langague Association (MLA) Convention, curated by Dene Grigar, Lori Emerson, and Kathi Inman Berens. "Electronic Literature" features over 160 works by artists who create literary works involving various forms and combinations of digital media, such as video, animation, sound, virtual environments, and multimedia installations, for desktop computers, mobile devices, and live performance. The works presented at this exhibit have been carefully selected by the curators because they represent a cross-section of born digital—that is, works created on and meaningfully experience through a computing device—from countries like Brazil, Canada, Australia, Sweden, the UK, the US, and Spain, and highlight literary art produced from the late 1980s to the present. Thus, the exhibit aims to provide humanities scholars with the opportunity to experience, first-hand, this emergent form of literature, one that we see as an important form of expression in, as Jay David Bolter calls it, this "late age of print."

4. Electronic Literature Organization 2012 Media Art Show: Electrifying Literature: Affordances and Constraints

   “Electrifying Literature: Affordances and Constraints” is the Electronic Literature Organization’s 2012 Media Art Show that takes place in conjunction with the ELO’s conference held in Morgantown, WV, from 20-23 June 2012. Curated by Dene Grigar & Sandy Baldwin, it is comprised of five venues across the city: The Monongalia Arts Center (MAC), the Arts Monongahela Gallery, West Virginia Univeristy (WVU), Downtown Library, the Art Museum of WVU, & the Hazel Ruby McQuain Amphitheater & features the art of 55 artists from nine countries; a retrospective of artists Alan Bigelow, J. R. Carpenter, M.D. Coverley, Judy Malloy, and Jason Nelson; a special commissioned geo-locative work by Jeremy Hight; artist talks; and performances.

5. Digitale Kunst in der Bibliothek - Digital Art in the Library

   Das Ende des Gutenbergzeitalters ist längst ausgerufen und Medienhistoriker konstatieren eine Entwicklung von Medien des Sinns (Schrift, Buch) zu Medien der Sinne (Fotografie, Film). Der Computer erschien in seiner textbasierten Anfangszeit als Revanche des Wortes am Fernsehen. Inzwischen gibt es Fernsehen auch im Internet. Schlechte Zeiten für den Text? Die neuen Medien führen auch zu neuen Formen der Textnutzung: interaktiv, effektvoll, dekorativ, oft eher darauf aus, mit dem Text zu spielen als ihn zu lesen. Die Ausstellungsreihe "Digitale Kunst in der Bibliothek" zeigt einige davon, beginnend mit "Overboard", einem Beispiel für animierte konkrete Poesie.

   im Katalogsaal der UB: Ausstellungseröffnung "Overboard" von John Cayley und Buchvernissage: "Textmaschinen - Kinetische Poesie - Interaktive Installation" von Prof. Dr. Roberto Simanowski. Anschliessend Apéro.

6. PW12 Performance Writing Weekend

   The weekend comprises performances, readings, a workshop on Writing & Mapping, ‘events on the plinth', an exhibition and discussions about multi- and inter-medial writing. We will be considering how, as the printed book comes under threat, new writing will be made, displayed and talked about. See attached PDF full details.

8. Words Unstable On The Table

   This exhibition has been arranged in conjunction with the E-Poetry [2013] Festival at Kingston University, London. The works were selected from the submissions to the festival and taking into account the Riverside Gallery's space at the Watermans.

   It has now been twelve years since the first E-Poetry Festival took place in 2001 in Buffalo, USA. According to Dr. Glazier, the artistic director of the E-Poetry Festivals, this is the longest-running festival celebrating the new, innovative, and leading works in digital poetics. It is a multicultural festival, gathering creators from all continents, to present artists' talks, scholarly papers, and performances and it is celebrated biennially at different international host institutions.

   An exhibition addressing various aspects of the festival’s theme, the End(s) of Electronic Literature Festival exhibition at the University of Bergen Arts and Humanities Library includes kiosk displays of international web-based electronic literature, installations made specifically for the library context, an “Emergence of Electronic Literature” exhibit (documented in a separate catalog) featuring early works of electronic literature, antecedant works of print literature, posters and other ephemera from the history of the field, and an Electronic Literature Collection, Volume 3 preview exhibit. 10. Exhibition "Shapeshifting Texts"

    Electronic literature is an ever-changing field which makes clear the intersections between multiple art forms, semiotic languages and experiences with the medium. This literary form thrives on dialogues between digital art, cinema, performance or games. The exhibition “Shapeshifting texts” aims to present a selection of works that incorporate these possibilities of interconnection.
    Between the 3rd and the 5th of November, we will present the collaborative work done by institutions and archives focused on the preservation of electronic and experimental literature and, simultaneously, demonstrate that electronic literature is part of an ever-evolving process which might have been catalysed by the first experiences with language and surfaces of inscription. At Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Bremen, from the 3rd to the 5th of November 2016, visitors will find works that shapeshift at different levels, often depending on assemblage and recalibration to be experienced.
    This exhibition is linked with the International Conference on Digital Media and Textuality and with an Evening of Performances.
