Short description:

Boston Cyberarts, Inc. is a non-profit arts organization created to foster, develop and present a wide spectrum of media arts including electronic and digital experimental arts programming. We exhibit and promote the media and digital arts of Boston, New England and the world to audiences in the New England region and beyond and by doing so, helping to promote a sense of media and digital literacy, locally and regionally.

Boston Cyberarts organizes the Boston Cyberarts Festival, a biennial festival of artists and high-technology professionals from New England and throughout the world, who are using computers to advance traditional visual and performing arts disciplines as well as to create new interactive worlds. The Festival includes exhibitions of visual arts: music, dance, and theatrical performances; film and video presentations; educational programs; and lecture/demonstrations and symposia. Event take place at locations in and around Boston, including theatres, museums, galleries, artists’ studios, educational institutions, and other public spaces. Besides these traditional physical locations, a key component of the Festival is the Boston Cyberarts Website (bostoncyberarts.org). The Festival first took place during the first two weeks in May 1999. The next festival will be held in Spring 2013.

On our website, bostoncyberarts.org, we maintain a number of on going web based projects including HyperArtSpace virtual Gallery and APropos, the artists proposal database.

Boston Cyberarts also organizes two other projects, Axiom Center for New and Experimental Media and Art Technology New England (ATNE) . Axiom Gallery is the premiere gallery in the Metro-Boston area dedicated exclusively to showcasing emerging and established artists working in new media. Axiom’s mission is to provide space to foster the growth of new and experimental media through exhibition and presentation of new media art and artists. Founded as a collective in 2004, AXIOM has grown into an exhibition and performance space. Axiom has seen hundreds of visitors and presented the work of local, national and international artists. Boston Cyberarts and Axiom merged in January, 2010.

ATNE links artists, businesses, non-profits and academic institutions working in art and technology, enabling cross-pollination of commerce and ideas, creating opportunities the art and technology community and sparking innovation across boundaries through creative thought and collaborative enterprise.
