Short biography:

eanne Achong lives and works in Vancouver, BC. Her art practice explores concepts of time, narrative and archives, on the web, in photographs, video and installations. She has exhibited her work in Canada, the US, the Caribbean, and Europe. She is currently co-commissioned with artist Faith Moosang to create a public art project (Lulu Suite) for the Richmond Olympic Oval. Phase I of this project, a video installation — “Lulu Suite: 17 Films for 17 Islands“, is now installed at the Richmond Oval

An early net piece, “Excerpts from An Archive” was included in two publications, Abécédaire du web, by Joanne Lalonde, published by the Presses de l’Université du Québec and a book on photography and the web, published by VU, in Quebec City. Deanne is in a never-ending quest to outwit google, having previously enjoyed a modest success at the game.

Deanne taught sessionally at Emily Carr University for five years, ending in 2006. She has been an artist-in-residence at La Chambre Blanche, QC, Studio-xx, Montreal and the Caribbean Contemporary Arts, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, and a visiting artist at Memorial University of Nfld, Department of Fine Arts, Cornerbrook Campus.

She has an MFA from the University of British Columbia, and a BFA from NSCAD. She grew up in Montreal and likes to visit when there is no snow on the ground.
